When the BFG and Sophie are just starting their first conversation, which will lead into a wealthy friendship, the BFG starts talking about the tastes of different people from different places. One of my favorite places the BFG talks about is Wellington, when he says "The human beans in Wellington have an especially scrumpdiddlyumptious taste." I like this quote because the word scrumpdiddlyumptious gives the sentence a bit of a zany feature. I also adore how Roald Dahl makes the BFG mistake "human beings" for "human beans." Another reason in particular I like the saying is because Wellington sort of sounds like my name! The picture I drew for the quote is just plain, large, enthusiastic, 3-D letters, spelling out MMM! because if you look in vocabulary, the description for scrumpdiddllyumptious is that something tastes magnificent, and MMM! shows a meaning of taste and flavor. Overall, this is an extraordinary quote in my mind. This is such a lovely saying, for all the years that people used typewriters, nobody could come up with this incredible story in a sentence!
This quote is an inspiration to me because it sounds to me like you always have help, no matter what's happening or who the volunteer is. To make better sense of the picture, two friends are at Loveland Castle, gazing at a mideval sewing object. One was tought by a worker, while the other boy was doing a puzzle. When he finished the puzzle, the boy went to his friend, asking in curiousity what his friend has been doing. The other boy tells his friend that he has been sewing with a mideval object. The boy who was doing the puzzle was puzzled. The boy said "I'll show you the way," and then he tought his friend how to sew, and they both had a wnderful time exploring the rest of the castle. The quote is pronunced when the BFG and Sophie were about to sprint to The Queen of England, when the BFG suddenly stammers, "I don't know how to get to the Queen's room!" Then Sophie announces, don't worry, I've been to the castle on a trip with my orphanage. I'll show you the way." Another reason I like this quote is because the person who says the quote is trying to be a leader, and being a leader is an important role in anything: A business, a project, talking it out, etc. This again is another inspring quote to me, showing leadership and responsibility from that particular person.
This is a funny quote. It's a funny quote because there's one of the BFG's extraordinary, made-up words, which is dumbsilly, but I might be wrong, but still, I've never heard the unusual word. I looked deeper into the quote and tried to figure out what dumbsilly meant. I think it means that something is a little impractical or impossible, because the BFG must have thought thaat Sophie's idea was a little unthinkable beause he didn't know how to get to the Queen's room, so dumbsilly must mean that something is a little impossible. Again, I like how the BFG is always saying things that aren't actual words, or words that don't actually work with the sentence that the word is in. This quote inspires me because it says to me that you should always say your opinion, no matter what's going to happen, like if somebody abused you of your answer to a question. It also inspires me because it sounds like you're questioning somebody in a polite way, but deep inside, you just want to scream out that it's one of the dopiest ideas in the world. This inspires me because I for one know it's hard to keep that selfish thing only upon yourself, so I think that's a very brave thing of the BFG to do. Another thing-since this is the longest quote, it stores the most ideas. It has the BFG's idea of the idea Sophie said. It also has the idea of the BFG being clueless of how to get to the Queen of England's bedroom, which supports the BFG's opinion of Sophie's idea, and it also has lots of things that can inspire anybody. Remember- QUOTES RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
